The name

Balate’s history flows like water; the name comes from the family’s origins in the south of Spain, Granada,
where ‘balates’ are the stone canals where water passes through to irrigate fields. In tribute to water as the essential ingredient of beer, every recipe is dubbed with a river’s name: Ter, Nil, Darro and Rhin.
